EVRA - summary of the minutes of the meeting of 18th September 2013
There was 11 committee present, with 9 apologies for absence.
The Acting Chairman welcomed everyone to the meeting and introduced Dawn Taylor, the regional organiser for Heart Start, who gave a presentation on the benefits of having a defibrillator located in the village. Dawn outlined the costs and training needs involved and the value of being able to assist a cardiac arrest victim until an ambulance arrives, and gave details of incidents where the existing ten machines in Rossendale had been used. The Acting Chairman thanked her for her presentation.
The success of Edenfield in Bloom was discussed under matters arising and it was agreed that Edenfield Parish Church`s coffee morning on Saturday, 19th October would be a suitable occasion for the presentation of prizes and certificates.
Work to tidy the Finger post Garden was continuing pending a decision by the Neighbourhood Forum on the application for funding.
Details were finalised for the Lancashire Night, to be held on 23rd November in the community centre, and it was agreed that the event would be advertised in the Autumn Newsletter.
Edenfield & District Community Association (EDCA) had reported that the replacement of some external brickwork and the installation of a new floating floor at the community centre was complete. EDCA noted, with sadness, the sudden passing of Peter Stopford, a popular and valued committee member.
The Treasurer gave his report and donations were either agreed or proposed for future discussion and a letter of thanks from Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue was read out.
Details were finalised for the annual Remembrance Service, to be held on Saturday, 9th November at 10.45am, which the Mayor will attend. Refreshments will be available afterwards in the community centre.
The Senior Citizens` Concert will take place on 14th December and preliminary plans were agreed.
Following detailed discussion and agreement on the delegation of tasks the Acting Chairman agreed to accept nomination for election as Chairman.
Under `other business` concerns were expressed about the proposed siting of an Anaerobic Digestion Plant in Fletcher Bank Quarry, Ramsbottom.
The Chairman thanked everyone for attending and confirmed that the next meeting would be at 8.00pm on Wednesday, 16th October.
